Interpreting the Visuals of Our Meditation Exercises
One of the elements of meditation that I find both good and bad is that we can easily get caught up in the same routines. While a routine in meditation is most definitely a lovely and beneficial thing, repetition can also keep us from growing and exploring if we get too caught up in it. For instance, I tend to lean into the same exercises, visualizing the same manifestations pretty regularly rather than playing around with new ones and discovering new things about myself and the world around me. This is what can make a change in the normal visuals of our meditation stand out so much.
When I manifest from Focus 15, I almost always see a white light surround me as I begin each manifestation exercise with gratitude and positivity. I always feel the need to embrace gratitude to then push for the abundance that I’m requesting. However, the other day during this exercise, I saw that this white light had become a golden hue without any effort on my part. I had just begun my normal routine and happened to see this golden hue appear instead of the white light I was used to (and expecting). Since it was such an extreme and unexpected difference, I noticed it immediately.
While a routine in meditation is most definitely a lovely and beneficial thing, repetition can also keep us from growing and exploring if we get too caught up in it.
This change, of course, had me asking:
Why did this visualization appear different for me than it normally does?
This has to have a greater meaning in my psyche, right? What does this change mean to me?
What can this change teach me about myself and what I’m going through?
Upon asking myself these questions, I quickly realized that the change in color came from a change in me and what I most needed at this time. I searched my soul for the meaning, and for me, it was strength. The white light of gratitude I usually see was fortified with a golden hue that added strength to it. It was a way in which I could face my future with the strength I needed to do so. Realizing this raised more questions because the interpretation indicated that things were happening in my life that made me feel unsafe. On a subconscious level, I realized I must feel I needed extra strength and protection.
So, when you see familiar visuals changing in your meditations, take the time to ask yourself what it might signify. Why are you experiencing these changes in your meditation? What does the change mean or represent to you? Why would it manifest in this way? What is this telling you about your life? Do you need more of something—or maybe less? You may be surprised how small visual cues or changes that appear in your meditation can represent valid messages.

Our higher selves and subconscious minds are very skilled at showing us what we need at any given time and providing metaphors for our current life situations. Our conscious minds, however, may not always be aware or alert enough to notice these clues. When you begin to pay attention to the cues that present themselves, I think you’ll be surprised by how present they are. When you start noticing them, they will likely help you understand more about yourself—your subconscious and beyond—and offer a great method of self-exploration.
The next time you meditate, I encourage you to not only pay close attention to your visual cues but also journal them in detail so you can re-visit them down the line to analyse any changes, growth, or developments your inner world may be experiencing, possibly in response to outer circumstances. What you discover could turn out to be quite valuable.
